[Action Thread] Work The Emo Right Out Of Him...
Who: Soifon and Ulquiorra
Where: Dojo 2, but will move elsewhere
When: Sunday, May 20th - 7 AM
What: Training!
Warnings: I guarantee you violence

7 AM was early by most standards, even those held by the miniature Fine Arts teacher; the sun hadn't yet made itself known in any particular way, and the air was still cold and crisp. Of course, since they were quite a ways up a mountainside, that was the usual state of the air... but, that fact didn't lessen the effect.

Soifon stood within the Dojo, waiting for her student; he had been alerted to the time and place of their training, and he seemed the respectful, punctual sort, so she foresaw no problems. If only her other student was so... not-terrible in every conceivable way.

Ah well. One played the hand one was dealt.

The chill of the morning air caressed Ulquiorra's face when he stepped out of his dorm on Sunday morning. Arising early to train was nothing new to him, so he took the desolate walkways as an opportunity to warm up with a light jog to Dojo 2. Upon arriving, he slid the door open and removed his shoes. Nodding to the shrine out of courtesy, he turned to the petite art instructor and bowed. "Good morning Sensei."

He IS punctual. Excellent. At least one of my students isn't hopeless.

Soi nodded politely to her student. "Good morning, Ulquiorra. We're going to begin with a run around the campus, so you may wish to put your shoes back on." A perfect warm-up, excellent for stretching... and, if he had any endurance issues, they would be revealed rather quickly.

Soi, of course, would be running barefoot; the better to feel the earth pass beneath her, after all. It lent one a certain sense of power, knowing they could outrun the planet itself... at least, that was how she felt.

"Very well." Ulquiorra replied, slipping his shoes back on his feet. "I'm ready when you are."

Soi exited the dojo, waiting for Ulquiorra to step through the door, as well, before locking the place up. Slightly mellowed or not, she was hardly the trusting sort.

Once she had done so, Soi beckoned to Ulquiorra, and started off towards the edge of the Gotei campus in a slow run. Once they had gone a decent way, she would start quizzing/educating him on the conceptual side of combat.

Ulquiorrs stepped out of the dojo and waited for Soifon to lock it up. Falling into her pace, he wondered what she had in store for him. He had heard she was fairly strict, and that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Deciding to break the silence, he asked, "May I ask what you have planned for my training today Sensei?"

Well... this was as good a time as any to begin.

"I intend to educate you on theory, Ulquiorra. From what I have seen, your practical skills need little work, beyond constant practice. Theories, however, are more difficult to judge." And there was one theory of his that would likely need a lot of work.

"For example... rules. There are different theories regarding rules... that they exist to equalize, that they exist to restrain, that they exist to assist. I submit to you mine: that all of those theories, true or not, are meaningless. The rules of a match are to be obeyed, without question. The reasoning behind them is irrelevant." She turned her head, staring at Ulquiorra. "I do not expect a repeat of what happened in your match against Abarai. Strikes to the groin are expressly prohibited. Do you understand?"
Ulquiorraemo_espada on June 12th, 2007 06:44 pm (UTC)
"Yes I do sensei. I apologize for the misunderstanding. I was under the impression that anything goes in a match so long as you don't kill the person. I see I was wrong."
Soifon: Thinkingthe_little_bee on June 12th, 2007 07:00 pm (UTC)
Good. He was humble, as well... and to-the-point. This kid wasn't half-bad.

"See that it doesn't happen again. I will provide you with a complete copy of the rules that matches at Gotei Academy run by when we return to the Dojo."

That was one down... there were others, though. "What do you think fear is, Ulquiorra?"
Ulquiorraemo_espada on June 12th, 2007 08:17 pm (UTC)
Fear huh? Interesting question. "Fear comes in many forms: fear of objects, fear of emotions, fear of loss, fear of gain, fear of a person, et cetera. Most of this translates to something a person wants no part of in their life, and when their life is threatened that person feels fear because some aspect of their life is in danger or is about to change. Of course, if a person knows how to handle them self in a particular situation, there is no reason for fear at all."
